(…) I did think Mike Gilbert would be there and I know, as they told me, the two guys there, that he was the one who did it, but I had no hatred for Mike Gilbert…

He had no hatred for Gilbert in spite of the fact that this guy had already played numerous filthy tricks on him. It’s one of the things, I suppose, that make him a bit hard to believe for his enemies: the fact that he is far too good for this world.

The other men he brought with him were his friend Clarence Stewart and four other guys: Walter Alexander, Charles Cashmore, Charles Ehrlich and Michael McClinton.

The only person I had asked, I requested to help me here, was Mr. Stewart. I did request him, I needed his car, I asked if he had two guys to help me remove these things from the room. I didn’t ask anybody to do anything then to stand by me, allow me to yell at these guys and then help me remove those things. And if they wouldn’t let me remove them we would call the cops on them cause I felt that they were wrong (…) I didn’t ask them to yell at anybody. Unfortunately they did and I believe it’s my fault because I brought them there and I knew the character of a couple of the guys that were there.

The two “victims” were memorabilia dealers Bruce Fromong and Alfred Beardsley. It seems everything went according to plan except that in the end they claimed things had been taken that didn’t belong to Simpson:

But in no way did I mean to hurt anybody, to steal anything from anyone, I spoke to Bruce before I left the room, he told me what was his, and I called them, I got to the car and said ‘exactly what do you have I want to send it back to you.’ (…)

We talked about it the next day, then Bruce and I felt, we talked about it, these kids had called me, since this, we would apologize to each other.
