I had a chance to get some of our property back, property that over the years we had seen being sold on the internet, we had seen pictures of ours that had been stolen from my home going into the tabloids… We called the police and asked what to do, they told us what to try to do, but you can never find out who is selling it. This was the first time I had an opportunity to catch the guys red-handed who had been stealing from my family… (…) I don’t think anybody there said I wanted anybody else’s stuff, just my own. I wanted… my daughter… Mrs. Brown gave her her mother’s wedding ring… stolen.

                                                                                                From O.J. Simpson: final statement.

‘Actually I was supposed to take the ride with them. It was supposed to be just going to pick up the items. But I was busy that day planning last minute things for my wedding and my time ran short. I told O.J. I couldn't go with them. Basically Tom Riccio just said come to the hotel room, all the stuff is here, come get it.’                                            Tom Scotto in an interview, September 18, 2007

I suppose at first that was the idea: that they could just go and pick up these things. Later Riccio must have told Simpson that it wouldn’t be so easy, that he would have to make a bit of a scene in order to get his things back. So on September 13, 2007, O.J. Simpson and a group of men enter a room at that hotel. They don’t know Riccio is recording the event in order to sell the tape to TMZ.com. That was probably the reason why he organized that scene.
