Some notes on the “armed robbery” case.

Question number 107 on Judge Jackie Glass’s questionnaire for potential jury candidates: Do you think the news media always  reports the truth?  The desired answer is “Yes”’.

People who answer ‘yes’ to that question are of course in general, to put it politely, extremely naďve. But in America it also implies that they are sure that O.J. Simpson has committed each and every crime anyone can think of. It means he has already been convicted before the trial has started.

What happened? This is the story. In September 2007 Simpson was in Las Vegas.

When I came here I came here for a wedding, I didn’t come here to reclaim property. I was told it was here.

                                                                                                                  From O.J. Simpson: final statement.

The wedding was that of his friend Tom Scotto, who had asked him to be his best man.  While he was in Las Vegas Thomas Riccio, someone who (like everybody involved in this case, including the alleged victims) had been posing as a friend, told him he knew where to find property that was stolen from him. He made an arrangement with him to get together at the Palace Station hotel to retrieve it.
