On this case I have, for now, just a few observations.

 

Some notes on the custody case 

 

   The only way I can explain the behavior of Nicole Brown is by assuming she had experience as a child, either as a victim or as a witness, with physical abuse. For that reason alone I wouldn’t like to leave a child in the care of the Browns. One day they dragged their grandchildren to the cemetery to pose next to their mothers’ grave for a tabloid. I don’t know how much they got paid for that. Mr. Simpson is the most forgiving person on the planet but about this he was really very angry.

   I find it hard to find information on the custody case on the internet, and I must admit I haven’t put a lot of effort into it yet. So I can’t say a whole lot about it and it is possible I got a detail wrong here and there.

   The court appointed five experts, and a lawyer to represent the children. Total costs of their efforts: $400.000 (to be paid, for mysterious reasons, by Mr. Simpson).  All of them advised, independently of each other, that Mr. Simpson should get full custody. You can be sure they had all come to the conclusion that he didn’t abuse, let alone kill, the mother of those children. Normally such an advice would automatically have been followed, but this was O.J. Simpson… So they gave him shared custody with the Browns. It was the choice of the children to live with their father.

   For ten years he spent most of his time looking after his children. ‘Why don’t you get a job’ people said time and again as looking after children, even as a single parent, even when they have been through what those children had been through, is not considered to be serious work anymore nowadays. (Western civilization is going down under as a result of child neglect, in my opinion.) He must be the best father in the world, considering how well these children have been doing.

   Of course the media made up the most absurd motives for the decision of the court. Of course they didn’t say anything about those experts. Of course they assumed that the children were forced to live with their father. Of course they cannot say anything about O.J. Simpson that doesn’t contain at least one blatant lie.
